The worst tragedy in British caving history will be remembered this weekend. It is 50 years since the events in Mossdale Caverns in the Yorkshire Dales in which six young potholers died.

Mossdale Caverns is a cave system in the Yorkshire Dales, England. It is 3.1 miles north of Grassington, and east of Conistone, where Mossdale Beck sinks at the base of Mossdale Scar. It lies at an altitude of 1,394 feett on the eastern flank of Wharfedale, and extends south-east beneath Grassington Moor. It is an extremely lonely and remote place.
