Welcome. I use a Crack w/Speedball and aftermarket tubes (Sylvania) with my HD650s and find it extremely enjoyable and non-fatiguing. Building the Crack was a fun project. Things sound better when you make it yourself 8^). You should use higher ohm headphones with the Crack.

Crackatwoa is a premium version of the direct coupled Crack circuit with the C4S active loads of the Speedball incorporated, and also shunt voltage regulation in the form of two 6AQ5 tubes along with a bigger power transformer. 27 Hi everyone, So I got a pretty good deal on a pair of refurbished HD 650 this week and picked them up for $280. I got them today, and love them, but I feel like my HiFiMAN EF2A is the weak part of my setup. It makes the 650 sound nice, but not even close to as good as I know the 650 are capable of (not to mention it's pretty noisy/hissy).
